Fearlessly fusing the joyous intensity of pop-punk with the soulful swagger of blues, this Portland, Maine based quartet has been turning heads since their debut in the New England music circuit in 2017. Lead by frontman and namesake Xander Nelson, the group features Manny Urgiles on guitar, Chuck Martin on drums, and Conor McGrory on bass.
Flashing the chops they honed at Berklee College of Music, they’ve shared the stage with Grammy nominees and local legends alike, and have become known for their high-energy live sets. Unlike most rock bands out there, they give you both something to pump your fist and shake your hips to.
They’ve released two critically acclaimed EPs – 2017’s “A Dull Roar” and 2018’s “See You On The Other Side.” What’s more, their single “You Got A Problem” has received extensive airplay on 94.3 WCYY and102.9 WBLM.

For almost a decade, Sara was held hostage to wanting the perfect physical image. It was not until late adolescence that her disorder came to fruition, physically that is. Full: A Memoir of Overcoming an Eating Disorder is her powerful and utterly raw story of her battle with anorexia. Filled with humor, wisdom, and inspiration, readers will feel empowered to overcome their own battle with disordered eating.
Sara’s battle with anorexia began when she was sixteen years old. What started off as a “simple” diet on the quest to be healthy quickly spiraled into a path of rigidity, confinement, and malnourishment. She lost the most innate desire the human body has—to eat. Everything that Sara once found joy and pleasure in only fueled her anxiety. Sara began to lose herself mentally, emotionally, and physically.
She battled through endless appointments, unrelenting questions from doctors and professionals, and feelings of defeat and overwhelm. She was full. Full of her eating disorder.
Sara graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor of Science and went on to complete the Advanced Standing Social Work program at Boston University, obtaining her Masters of Social Work.
Currently, she is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Massachusetts and works as a School Social Worker and outpatient therapist.

Approximately 1 in 54 children in America is diagnosed with autism, making Autism Awareness Month each April ever more crucial to spreading awareness, knowledge, and most importantly, compassion, for those with autism in their lives. One of those people is Kate Swenson, whose world stopped when her then-toddler, Cooper, was diagnosed with severe, nonverbal autism. Cooper is now eleven, with three younger siblings, and Kate shares posts and videos of their day-to-day life in the community of 730K+ that she’s built across her blog, Finding Cooper’s Voice, and Facebook page.

ABOUT ISAAC ZABLOCKI
Festival Founder & Director
Isaac Zablocki is the Director of Film Programs at JCC Manhattan. He attended film school at Columbia University and went on to work at Miramax Films. Previously, he produced and directed feature films and developed film educational programs for the Board of Education. Since 2004, Isaac has been developing film programs at the JCC including the Israel Film Center. Beyond ReelAbilities, he programs multiple film festivals annually, including the acclaimed Other Israel Film Festival, which focuses on Arab and underrepresented populations in Israel.

Founded in 2007 by the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, ReelAbilities Film Festival: New York is the largest festival in the country dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories and artistic expressions of people with disabilities. The weeklong festival is renowned for its wide-ranging international film selection, riveting conversations, and performances, presented annually in dozens of venues across the New York metropolitan area. In 2012, other cities across the country followed New York’s footsteps by hosting ReelAbilities Film Festivals, starting with Cincinnati, Ohio. Since then, ReelAbilities events have been held in over 20 cities across the world – transitioning from ReelAbilities North America to ReelAbilities International. ReelAbilities events have expanded from the U.S., Canada, and Latin America—and take place in many different forms: Film festivals, year round screenings, and special programming that goes beyond film. ACCESSIBILITY
ReelAbilities Film Festival: New York strives to include all people. All festival venues are wheelchair accessible, and the festival presents all films with open captions. The JCC offers CART (live transcription) at every event for introductions, post-screening conversations, and non-film programming. In 2018 for the first time, the JCC also offers Audio Description for the visually impaired for every feature film and several short films. Some other venues will also offer this accessibility aid. (Audio Description availability is noted on individual venue and program pages.) ASL interpretation will be available at many events at the JCC and may be available at other venues with advance notice. The festival catalog is available in Braille from the JCC box office. Blossoms are blooming and spring is here. It’s the perfect time to visit the UCI School of Humanities outdoor museum that weaves through the corridors of its corner of campus. 21 light poles are adorned with banners featuring unique illustrations of significant historical moments that the humanities help us understand.
The diverse display features global art, literary, film, television and social history achievements ranging from the first summer blockbuster in the movie industry to the genesis of Chaucer’s writing of The Canterbury Tales and from the construction of the first transcontinental railroad tracks in the U.S. to the start of the Salvadoran revolution.
Each banner features a QR code that links visitors to a website with explanations about how the moment impacted history from the faculty member who selected it.
“‘Humanities: It’s Time’ reflects how humans across cultures, geography and time have responded to social conflict and change with innovative literature, film, architecture, social movements, and industries that influence the course of history,” said Tyrus Miller, dean of the School of Humanities. “Our historical 'hot takes' are not just celebratory, though—each moment is complex and layered, and some even proved devastating in their ultimate outcome. But that too is a key point of the ‘Humanities: It's Time’ display. In the humanities, we bravely face what it is to be human across time; only by confronting and critically interpreting our legacies can we guide ourselves to brighter futures.”

With the Holidays over, many people are left to cope with their magnified feelings of grief & loss of a loved one, a beloved pet, a job that no longer exists, loss of income, a home, and even a loss of self. According to The Atlantic 72% of Americans say that they know someone who has died or hospitalized due to COVID, making 6.6 million Americans could be effected by bereavement. A recent study by UCLA indicates how Americans are suffering Psychological Distress from a job loss.
Karen V. Johnson's fast-paced professional career as a lifetime appointed Federal Judge came to an abrupt halt when she lost her 27 year-old son to a heroin overdose. Rather than grieve in a way that made people around her comfortable, she did the unexpected. She quit her job, sold her house with all her belongings, and went on a 2½ year journey that took her all over the world, finding a healing practice along the way.
Karen didn't think she could ever find her way out of despair, but she found a process that works and shares the journey of transformation with others so they can heal too.

The French Film Festival is a four-night festival that begins each night with a cultural event at 6:30 P.M. in the Campus Theater patio area. The cultural event features food, art, and music that represent a little bit of French or German culture. All Movies begin at 7:30 P.M. in the campus theater.

Camila Alves McConaughey is a dedicated mom who values the importance of healthy eating. She is also an entrepreneur and founder of Women of Today, a lifestyle site and community powered by women around the globe. She lives in Texas with her husband, Matthew McConaughey, and their three children. Camila was a mushroom skeptic for thirty-seven years, until a bowl of veggie Bolognese in 2020 turned her into a mushroom lover. Keep trying those veggies!

Adam Mansbach is a novelist, screenwriter, cultural critic and humorist. He is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Go the F*** to Sleep, which has been translated into forty languages, named Time Magazine's 2011 "Thing of the Year," and sold over two million copies worldwide. The 2014 sequel, "You Have to F****** Eat," is also a New York Times bestseller.
Mansbach was recently nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and an NAACP Image Award for his screenplay BARRY. Mike Boldt is an author and illustrator from Canada. His books include Bad Dogand Find Fergus, as well as the I Don't Want to Be a Frog series, written by Dev Petty, and How to Grow a Dinosaur, written by Jill Esbaum. And while Mike really enjoys them now, just onebite of Brussels sprouts used to make him gag.
