Daryl Gant is a Camden native, father of eight, and printing press operator. He was raised by a single mother and strives to be a better father than his own, who abandoned him at birth. His girlfriend, Nani, is the love of his life but struggles to cope with a crippling crack and heroin addiction, and the nefarious lifestyle to support it. More troubling is that Nani is pregnant with their new baby boy, Darnez. It becomes Daryl's new-found purpose to forge a better future for the both of them.
Nani is also a Camden native, whose mother died with a needle in her arm. Now she struggles with the responsibilities of motherhood in the face of her own addiction.
Darnez was born healthy but needs particular care growing up in an environment rife with safety and well-being concerns.
Their friend, Iman, was once a drug dealing kingpin in Camden in the 1990s. He was also a father and a mechanical engineer until he caught a dealer's habit selling dope. He embodies the spirit of many disaffected residents of Camden, taking the viewer on a tour of post-industrial American decay.
His own quest to sobriety will eventually force the hand of Nani to make a change, as they forge parallel paths to recovery.

KATHRYN NICOLAI
Host of the popular Nothing Much Happens podcast shares indispensable toolkit for relaxing body and mind to help fall asleep
With everything going on in the world, is anyone getting enough quality sleep these days? Whether keeping up with the impending election has upped your screen time or virtual work and learning has upped your caffeine intake, Kathryn Nicolai, host of the popular podcast Nothing Much Happens, is here to help get you relaxed and asleep in no time. Nicolai has crafted a healthy way to help readers who struggle to fall asleep, wake in the middle of the night, or carry their anxiety with them during the day, through the timeless act of reading bedtime stories.
When Kathryn Nicolai launched her podcast Nothing Much Happens in 2018 she hoped to put her nearly two decades of experience as a yoga and meditation instructor to use by helping listeners quiet the mind and fall asleep. For each episode, she would write soothing stories that both eased her listeners into a peaceful slumber and taught the principles of mindfulness—so that waking hours might become sweet and serene, as well. Two years later, Nicolai’s podcast has become one of the most recommended and listened to podcasts for finding rest. Just this spring, Refinery29, Bustle, and Well+Good, said it was the perfect podcast for bedtime, and Nicolai reached 25 million episode downloads. Now, she has transferred her stories and insights onto the page in her new book Nothing Much Happens: Cozy and Calming Stories to Soothe Your Mind and Help You Sleep.

The Black Emperor of Broadway is the story of the first African-American leading man on Broadway, Charles Gilpin. Gilpin was cast by playwright, Eugene O'Neill to be the lead in his play "The Emperor Jones" in 1920, a time when "blackface" was the norm on stage. O'Neill and Gilpin clashed numerous times over the cultural representation of Gilpin's Emperor Jones, and while O'Neill's name became celebrated, Gilpin's was tragically lost to history.
The Black Emperor of Broadway is now available on VOD and on DVD October 6.

As told by the artist, Aoede:
I Forgot to Grieve...
During the 12 years I’ve lived with my rare progressive muscle weakness disease, dermatomyositis, I forgot to grieve... and I decided I'd turn my disease into an opportunity to heal myself and others, using spoken words and music, empowering others who may have also forgotten to grieve...
Now more than ever, during these unsettling and unprecedented times when hope and healing are necessary on so many levels, we need to continue to find ways to thrive. But first, we need to grieve... our losses, our unwanted changes, our transformations. And The Grieving Project can help us do just that.
The Grieving Project is a powerful and inventive spoken word audiobook that sets the stages of grief to music… the entire audiobook-all 22 tracks-is spoken over original musical compositions. Four different young adults. Four different chronic illness experiences. Plunging through 14 stages of grieving and thriving, through a melding of words and an emotional orchestra. Taking us on a moving journey from surviving... to thriving.
The Grieving Project is more than an audiobook; it is a road map to our hearts, an invitation for you to grieve your loss, your change, your unexpected and unwanted transformation, and the inspiration and encouragement you need to awaken, express, rejuvenate, activate, connect, shine and truly thrive!

In Failure to Disrupt: Why Technology Alone Can’t Transform Education, Justin Reich delivers a sobering report card on the latest supposedly transformative educational technologies. Reich takes readers on a tour of MOOCs, autograders, computerized “intelligent tutors,” and other educational technologies whose problems and paradoxes have bedeviled educators. Learning technologies―even those that are free to access―often provide the greatest benefit to affluent students and do little to combat growing inequality in education. And institutions and investors often favor programs that scale up quickly, but at the expense of true innovation. It turns out that technology cannot by itself disrupt education or provide shortcuts past the hard road of institutional change.
